Web development
and data work
done properly.

I'm Alex — a freelance developer and data analyst based in Austin, TX. I help startups, local businesses, and agencies build websites and data tools that are fast, clear, and actually useful.

A bit about me

I started as a backend developer.
Data pulled me sideways.

I've been building things on the web since 2019. Started with PHP and WordPress, moved into React and Next.js, then picked up Python when a client needed their spreadsheet chaos turned into something they could actually use.

These days I split my time between frontend work — building websites and web apps — and data projects: dashboards, reports, and analysis for businesses that need to understand what's happening in their numbers.

I work with a small number of clients at a time. That means you get my full attention, not a junior developer and a project manager you'll never meet.

Let's talk about your project →

Frontend

  • React / Next.js
  • JavaScript (ES2022+)
  • Tailwind CSS
  • HTML & CSS
  • REST APIs

Data & Analytics

  • Python (pandas, matplotlib)
  • SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • Power BI
  • Excel / Google Sheets
  • Data cleaning & ETL

Other

  • Git & GitHub
  • SEO fundamentals
  • Performance optimization
  • Vercel / Netlify deploys

What I do

Five areas where I take projects from brief to finished.

Web Development

Custom websites and web apps built with React or Next.js. Fast, accessible, and structured so you can update content without calling me every time.

  • Marketing sites & landing pages
  • Web apps with user auth
  • CMS integration (Sanity, Contentful)
  • API-connected frontends

Data Analytics

Turn raw data into something you can act on. I clean, analyze, and present data in a way that makes decisions easier — not just prettier charts.

  • Sales & revenue analysis
  • Customer behavior reports
  • Automated reporting pipelines
  • Excel / Sheets model builds

Dashboard Creation

Interactive dashboards in Power BI or as custom web apps. Built around the questions your team actually asks, not a default template with your logo on it.

  • Power BI reports & dashboards
  • Custom React dashboard apps
  • KPI tracking systems
  • Live data connections

SEO Optimization

Technical and on-page SEO for websites that need to rank. I focus on the fundamentals that actually move the needle — structure, speed, and content relevance.

  • Technical SEO audits
  • Core Web Vitals fixes
  • Structured data markup
  • Page speed optimization

Performance Optimization

Slow websites lose visitors. I audit existing sites and fix the specific issues causing poor load times — images, scripts, render-blocking resources, and server config.

  • Lighthouse score improvements
  • Image & asset optimization
  • Bundle size reduction
  • Caching & CDN setup

Selected projects

A few recent projects — what the brief was, what I built, and what changed.

Web App 2024

Fieldwork — Property Management Platform

A small property management company was running everything through spreadsheets and email threads. They needed a web app where landlords could log maintenance requests, track tenants, and see payment status in one place.

Built a Next.js app with a PostgreSQL backend, role-based auth, and a dashboard that replaced four separate spreadsheets. The team went from 3 hours of admin per day to under 30 minutes.

Data & Dashboard 2024

Roast & Co — Sales Analytics Dashboard

An independent coffee roaster with three locations had no visibility into which products were selling, which locations were underperforming, or what their margins actually looked like across SKUs.

Built a Power BI dashboard connected to their POS export data. Added a Python script to automate the weekly data refresh. The owner now reviews it every Monday morning instead of manually pulling reports.

Meridian Legal — Law Firm Website Rebuild

A two-partner law firm had a WordPress site from 2016 that was slow, not mobile-friendly, and ranking poorly for local searches. They needed a rebuild that looked professional and actually brought in enquiries.

Rebuilt in Next.js with structured data markup, optimized for local SEO, and scored 96 on Lighthouse. Organic enquiries increased noticeably within the first two months after launch.

How a project goes

No surprises. Here's what working together actually looks like.

Discovery

We start with a call or a few emails. I ask about your business, what you need, what you've tried before, and what success looks like. No intake forms with 40 fields.

1–2 days

Scoping & Proposal

I write up a clear scope document — what's included, what's not, timeline, and price. One flat fee, no hourly surprises. You approve it before anything starts.

2–3 days

Build

I work in focused sprints and share progress regularly. You'll see a staging version early so there are no big reveal moments at the end — just steady progress.

1–4 weeks

Review & Revisions

Two rounds of revisions are included. I fix what needs fixing, explain what I changed and why, and make sure you're happy before we move forward.

3–5 days

Launch

I handle the deployment, DNS setup, and any final checks. You get a handover document with everything you need to manage the site going forward.

1 day

Support

30 days of free support after launch. After that, I offer a simple monthly retainer if you want ongoing help — or you can reach out project by project.

What clients say

"Alex rebuilt our website and handled the whole thing without us needing to chase him once. It loads fast, looks professional, and we've had more enquiries since launch than in the previous year."

Sarah R.Partner, Meridian Legal

"The dashboard he built for us is something we actually use every week. Before, I had no idea which of our locations was performing best. Now it takes me five minutes to review the whole week."

James K.Owner, Roast & Co

"Straightforward to work with. He asked the right questions upfront, delivered on time, and the code is clean enough that our in-house developer could pick it up without issues."

Marcus T.CTO, Fieldwork
